Marcel has been selected to sing in masterclasses in the University of Salamanca with Carlos Mena, in Urbino Musica Antica with Sonia Tedla and Alessandro Quarta, in Venice Fondazione Giorgio Cini with Pedro Memelsdorff and Anna Danilevskaia, in the Junge Stuttgarter Bach Ensemble with Hans-Christoph Rademann and in the Europäisches Hanse-Ensemble masterclass with Manfred Cordes.
Marcel has produced, conducted and performed in various projects with his own emerging ensembles, such as Fonos, Deliciae Ensemble, Stile Spezzato and Deliciae Ensemble. He was also a member of the Youth Choir of the Palau de la Música and the Catalan National Youth Choir. In addition to his musical career, he completed a BSc in Genetics and an MSc in Scientific Communication at the University of Barcelona.
In relation to research in early music, Marcel nourishes a deep interest for traditional songs and the musical heritage of languages and cultures that nowadays are minoritized. His artistic goal is to perform these and other repertoires as part of the historical informed movement, but using a stage language that relates to modern audiences.
Marcel Jorquera Vinyals is a countertenor specializing in early music based in Barcelona. He has sung as a soloist in works of J.S. Bach, Schütz, Vivaldi and Jommelli with the Residentie Bach Ensembles, Dutch Baroque, and Bachcollegium Barcelona, among others. As a choir and ensemble singer, he regularly works with groups such as the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and Choir, Cappella Amsterdam, Bachcollegium Barcelona and the Europäisches Hanse-Ensemble.
He graduated at The Royal Conservatoire of The Hague in 2023, where he studied with Francesca Aspromonte, Robin Blaze, Peter Kooij, Pascal Bertin and Rita Dams. He also studied baroque oboe with Frank de Bruine and had choir conducting lessons with Jos Vermunt. He is currently pursuing a Masters in Musicology and Performance of Early Music in Esmuc (Barcelona) with Lambert Climent.
